Last year, between the two of us, we watched an average of 317 movies.
This year our goal is to top that by watching at least one a day.
And as an extra special torture, we've decided to write about all of them.

Outsourced, dir. John Jeffcoat (2006)

NIKKI says:
This is why I love preview tapes. Buried amid the Death Rows and the Skinwalkers', there's stuff like this.

To be honest, were it not for the inclusion of Josh Hamilton from Kicking and Screaming, I probably would have simply pushed this one to the bottom of the pile. Instead, I wanted to see what he was up to and had a look at the Outsourced trailer, and, like Steve, was immediately into the film.

It's about a guy -- Josh Hamilton -- who gets outsourced to India. He must train his replacement in the telesales business, while overseeing a group of marketers. Among his jobs is to teach the Indian salespeople to fake American accents. Josh is not keen on the idea of going to India, but he warms to the country. It's this culture shock and how he manages to overcome it that makes this film especially good. If you've travelled, you'll appreciate it that much more.

This is just a sweet film that relies purely on good characters and story. It resists stereotypes, and celebrates Indian traditions. Josh winds up in a bit of a romantic triangle, and the film is straightforward about the issues the couple face without denigrating Indian customs. In the end, we want to see the couple together, but we understand if it can't be. What eventuates, though, is better than a big, sappy ending.

I enjoyed this one a lot. It makes me want to check back through the preview discs to see what other gems might be hiding there.
